New Gurgaon being a recent development the schools in the city are also relatively new. Since Gurgaon has a lot of young population and families with small kids the demand for good schools in the city is quite high. Although there are a number of schools in Gurgaon, admission still seems to be difficult.
Majority of the good schools in Delhi like DPS, Amity, Ryan, Tagore International, have their branches in Gurgaon. Apart from that there are is an appreciable collection of new generation schools in Gurgaon. International schools like Americam Excelisor, and Scottish High, unconventional schools like Shikshantar, Heritage, and Sri Ram, top the list of schools in Gurgaon.
Most of the schools in Gurgaon initiate the admission procedure in the month of August, September, and goes on till October. During these months you can spot parents hurrying towards various schools for buying and submitting admission forms. Admission criteria for various schools and how they are shaping up are a few hot topics for discussion among parents.
Most of the schools in Gurgaon are new, not more than 9-10 years old. Parents seeking admission in Gurgaon schools for their children rely on each other for feedback. The school ratings published in newspaper every year changes frequently leaving parents confused. In such scenario they can only fall back on other parents’ opinion whose children are already admitted in schools.
Since most of these schools are only a few years old they have not yet produced children ready for college. So it is very difficult to judge a Gurgaon school about its academic performance and overall personality of its students. It is only after a few years when we see the actual pass outs of these schools we will get to know the real picture.
A good way to collect feedback on Gurgaon schools is to contact the principal of the play school where your child goes. Children from various play schools go to these schools every year and thus the principal or educational counselor of these schools have a fair idea of how these schools are performing.
There are online forums like Nurseryadmissions.com that share all relevant information and feedback of users on Gurgaon schools. Being a part of such forums really help because they also keep you posted on admission dates and other crucial information.
Another issue that parents face while admission in Gurgaon schools is that the selection criteria is not clear. It totally depends on schools who they want to call for interaction and who is finally selected. This attitude of school authorities leave the parents in a fix whether their child will be selected or not. No feedback or hint is given for non selection.
The whole process of admission in Gurgaon schools is cumbersome for both child and parent. There is enough availability of schools in Gurgaon but admission is still tough and uncertain.

Hi All,
Just wanted to share about this years (2010) admissions for nursery.
Almost all the schools in ggn are now adapting the draw-system, seems enforced by govt, for admitting the kids.
There are various pros and cons to this unless some ethics are maintained by parents:
Pros:
1. No interview headache for parents and kids.
2. One can avoid pre-school and related expenses.
3. Fairness in draw system
4. Its your luck, if your ward name is announced in draw, otherwise …
Cons :-
1. Probability of getting admission, as per your wish, is not high.
2. One needs to have a very good-luck to get admission.
3. Sibling factor seems not considered, however i felt some backdoor options are available (a pro as well).
This entire new draw system, although a good initiative, needs a bit more refinement.

I have experienced the admission process for Shriram School Gurgaon. Its a complete sham!
They laid our certain criteria for scoring but did not adhere to that.
I tried speaking to the Shriram School Gurgaon Admission incharge ‘Vandana’. She has no
explanation and keeps saying she is very busy to reply to emails or phone. Also mentions
that visits are not allowed and whatever list is published is final and closed.
So basically there is no transparency in the process and no way to get any explanations
also. I guess they work as per what is locally call ‘Jack’ essentially meaning some
influence is required to get access to the school authorities.
Wonder what they teach the kids if they work like this.

Completely agree with you Ritesh. You can see people with low scores on the selection list whereas people with higher scores are left out. Clearly shows what a fraudulent system there is in TSRS….Shriram is only running on the past reputation ………think it will go down from here. Ridiculously cocky n arrogant institution.
