A treat for shopping maniacs! A mega shopping carnival is coming all the way to Millennium City organized for not a day or two, but for whole 19 days!
From February 24th to14th march, Gurgaon is planning to host a magnanimous shopping event on the similar lines of annual Dubai shopping carnival. Gurgaon Deputy Commissioner Kataria said, “The festival is a preamble to the shopping festival to be held in Delhi-NCR region during Commonwealth Games, 2010.”
The skyscrapers and multistory malls will be pepped up with colorful flags and dazzling lights to show off the spirit of the shopping festivity. And the carnival is not all about shopping, the big event is here to promote the global brands and give it a heady launch into the heart of Gurgaon, besides establishing the dreamland of shopper’s paradise.
A delighted indulgence for chic class in the ultra glam fashion shows, cultural events, live performances by Bollywood stars, TV actors and folk artists, this shopping carnival brings high level of entertainment not only for people in India but also the mass of foreign tourist that will be visiting India during Commonwealth Games.
The city roads will be adorned with high entrance arches and big banners of glittering brands with sizzling models to incite the spirit of carnival.
All this build up for the décor of the event are promised to prove worthy by throwing the business with a panache of grand deals, shopping offers and fabulous prizes in lucky draws held weekly. What is more is that in the grand event will comprise of a weekly bumper draw and a jackpot to further entice the shoppers. The festival will be one of its kinds and the biggest ever held in India.
It’s a huge platform for not only the retail brands, novice or established, not only a shopper’s paradise but underneath lies the golden prospect for the real estate market and the mall owners, expecting the market boom.
Kataria revealed that the objective of organizing the festival is to promote Gurgaon as one of the world’s most progressive townships and India’s foremost shopping destination. The carnival will introduce the city with best deals in all range of retail brands, handicrafts of Haryana and promote delicacies of Indian cuisines and blend the world’s cuisines too. He furthers gives a call to the people of Millennium city to come up with striking logo for the festival and suggest a name along with it.
A formal presentation about the shopping carnival will be made before the potential stake holders on December 3 and the principal organizers and sponsors will be short listed on December 23 as informed by the DC.
All this is mouth-watering and a delighted pleasure for Indians to indulge in but the security factor is as always a major issue in India. Will India be able to handle a crowd so massive with security measures uptight for whole 19 days? It is a crucial aspect of the event that would require months of planning and proper layout. Though it is customary to find either loophole in security measures or either they are annoying. After all, safe customers are happy customers.
