Gurgaon’s Residents to Raise Groundwater Level

The Hamilton Court, Windsor Court and Regency Park 2 condominium association along with its residents have taken up Rain water Harvesting (RWH) Project under the theme “save water save life”. Together they have implemented and installed 5 RWH in their complex which is working on bringing the ground water level up.

Working successfully from 1 year, RWH has been able to pull the society’s groundwater level to 80 cubic centimeters, whereas the level outside the society is 140 cubic centimeters. JK Raizada, president of Hamilton Court, Windsor Court and Regency Park-II Condominium Association said that RWH will intake 20 million of rain water every year and is harvesting water from a catchment area of 99,734 square meters.

With the technical assistance and aid from Central Ground Water Authority, FORCE, an NGO and Coca-Cola India, it took almost 8 months to implement this idea. Successful running of the project ensures that society is not plagued with water scarcity and also replenishes groundwater.

Apart from harvesting rain water for greater good and society use, it plans to make the complex the greenest. For this, the association has took up plantation of saplings all around the society and has already rooted 4,000 saplings. Such a step towards betterment of society is not only the association’s initiative and ambition to groom the environment but also residents are seen actively participating in the execution of their plans.

Former president, Rakesh Kochhar, admits that he has adopted the plants in the society and takes care of them with dedication. He also feels that if every citizen starts caring for a plant each, Gurgaon will be a better place, with minimum effort.

With such projects coming forward and Gurgaon citizens taking up their responsibility to be an active participant, there is a scope of maintaining the Millennium City.

Citizens’ interest and participation are a must. A lackaidisical attitude will mean only deterioration in what is already there. We need to contribute to what we want to see and be a part of. So be a part of the initiative.
