The place offers rich looks of the amazing landscapes and different migratory birds coming from far of lands. Some of the very famous birds that add magnificent diversity to the entire place of Asan Barrage are marsh harrier, osprey, steppe eagle and fishing eagle. All of these birds are rarely seen anywhere in India and basically belong to foreign areas. You can have look at them during the months from October to November or may be during February and March as well. Some species that are found here are mallard, coot, widgeon, shoveller and tufted ducks. Another name for Asan Barrage is Dhalipur Lake.
The nearest airport to reach to the place is located in Nainital and the nearest railway station is Kathagodam that connects Bareilly, Lucknow and Agra also. Railways are the best source of visiting Asam barrage as various trains are scheduled nowadays at least from Delhi. Nizzamudin, New and old Delhi railway stations are the ones from where you’ll be able to access a direct train. But it might not be possible for you to get a direct train from Gurgaon as Haryana railways are not providing so many trains taking people directly over there.
Road traveling is also possible if you manage to take the route via Gaziabad highway. It takes you to the Hindon river bridge crossing Modinagar and then Meerut. This will take you to Muzzaffarnagar then to Roorkee. Take left turn from there and move straight towards Haridwar. Then the NH72A road will take you straight towards Dehradun. This route would take around 5-6hrs of traveling time. But to catch the highway you need to reach Delhi from Gurgaon taking the NH8 road crossing Dhaula Kuan. Be it airport or the railway station, you will be able to get the direct taxis at minimum cost taking people towards the nearest places almost on daily basis as all the nearest places are famous and attractive tourist destinations. Millions of people come to visit these places every year and nowadays even at weekends.
