The climate in Binsar is cool in summers, cold in winters and snowy in December to February. It is at an altitude of 2400 meters. There are abundant nature trails available to enjoy with trekking from Binsar and it also has a rich diversity of flora and fauna with some wild animals in forest reserve. Binsar wildlife sanctuary has over 200 species of birds and also some amazing views of Himalayan peaks surrounded by dense forests with trees of oak and rhododendron.
For today’s traveler, Binsar is the epitome of quietness, solitude and natural beauty, placed with wonderful views of snowcapped Himalayan mountain ranges. From Almora, Binsar is just 35 km away.
There is also a famous temple nearby- Binsar Mahadev Temple of 16th centuary, just 8 km away near the shrine of Lord Shiva. 4 km away there is another temple-Golu Devta Temple.
Pariyadeva-Pashan is a point to visit where there is a stone bearing cup marks, belongs to the megalithic age. Another is a well known resort called Khali estate which was home of commissioner of Kumaon once and the Binsar Museum which has the information on the ecological paradise.
In Binsar, you can take the Jungle walks with your binoculars to view the wildlife and birds, carrying a bird-identification book too.
For adventurous people, there are many trekking trails available through out the area to explore. You can enjoy here seeing the beautiful peaks of Nanda Devi, Kedarnath, Chaukhamba, Trishul, Nanda Kot and Panchchuli.
The best time to visit to Binsar is at any time of a year but not the time of monsoons. And you can have the view of spectacular sunset from new points.
Gurgaon is not so far from Binsar. You can reach Binsar by road by hiring a taxi from Gurgaon or you can travel by bus. And if the route does not suit you from Gurgaon then you can take the bus from Delhi, I.S.B.T bus stand. Delhi is about 380 km from Binsar.
If you want to go to Binsar by Rail transport then you can take the train from Nizamuddin station or from Old Delhi station. The train will drop you at Kathgodam, the nearest station to Binsar. From Kathgodam you can take the bus or a taxi to cover the left distance of 120 km to Binsar.
For Air transport, take the correct flight from Indira Gandhi Airport. It will land you at Pantnagar, the nearest airport to Binsar. To cover up the remaining distance of 30 km, take a taxi or the bus to reach your final destination.
