Chail is a beautiful city situated at a height of about 2,250mtrs above the sea level. It is located at a distance of 351kms away from Delhi and 45 kms away from Shimla. This small city is well recognized for the majestic beauty and peace among the travelers who are willing to visit India only for a glance of natural beauty. The town was built by Maharaja Bhupinder Singh, king of princely state of Patiala when he was given the punishment to be kept in an exile from Shimla. These orders were levied by the British rulers. The city was under his rule until the property was transferred to the government. Historical facts confirm that the queen was the daughter of the Commander in chief.
Chail is a famous hill station but the specialty of the region is not the snow covered mountains but the beautiful green forests rich in natural vegetation of gigantic deodars and pine trees. The place offers different scenic views of the nature along with some ancient buildings. One of them is the famous Palace of the King built up on the three beautiful hills. The three hills are named as the Pandhewa Hill, the Rajgarh Hill and the Sadh Tiba hill. One can even have some amazing views of Kasauli and Shimla during night.
Apart from these, Chail Sanctuary is another famous tourist attraction situated in the district of Shimla near the town. The Sanctuary makes one view the natural grasslands full of the Oak and the deodar forests.
Palace Hotel is also a prime destination which was built in the name of the ancient king.
Sidh Baba Ka Mandir is another magnificent place to be seen as there is a historic story attached to it which says that Maharaja Bhupinder Singh wanted to build his Palace at this place but a saint came in his dream and prevented him to do so. Due to this the venue of the Place was shifted from here and the place was donated for building the temple.
Ideal time to visit:
The best time of visiting this destination is between April to July and September to November.

How to reach?
- Chail is 75kms away from Kalka so it would be quite convenient for the road travelers to access their destination via the NH1 route to Ambala.
- From there you need to follow NH22 route to Kandaghat crossing Panchkula and Dharampur. Kalka would also come between these routes.
- Another route is via the state road to Chail crossing Sadhupur. It might not be convenient for you to travel by air as the nearest airport is located in Shimla; only a person coming from there would have to hire a private taxi from the airport itself.
- Traveling by train would make things even more easy and flexible for people coming from Delhi as many trains are lined up these days at the New and Old Delhi railway stations taking passengers straight to Chail via the Kalka-Shimla route.
