Chakrata is a hill station in Dehradun District of Uttranchal state of India. It is located at an altitude of about 7000 feet above the sea level. Chakrata has a calm and peaceful environment with pollution free atmosphere. Earlier this town was known as Jaunsar Bawar, a small village of Jaunsari tribes. It has a wide dense forest all around with lusting greeneries.

Chakrata’s cool and pleasant ambience makes it a picturesque picnic spot. With an altitude of about 10,000 feet, Kharamba peak is the highest mount here. It is a fascinating landscape for adventurous tasks like mount climbing. To enjoy by exploiting the nature’s hidden treasures and beauties, nature lovers, trekkers can have a vacation here. Chakrata is a Mother Nature’s grandeur gift which makes the stay more enjoyable. Nature lovers, bird watchers and wild life enthusiastic can enjoy the natural habitat of many wild life species like panther, spotted deer and wild fowls. Many more attractions like caves and ancient temples add to the beauty to this town.

Chakrata is still an unexplored hill station. Chakrata is a place where you can sit by the fields, walk on the road, through the treks and see the thick deodar forests.

Chakrata is a military cantonment. It was developed by the British rulers. Only civilian travelers are allowed here. It is about 350kms from Delhi and about 98kms from Dehradun. One can reach here by the fliers and the trains which will take only up to Dehradun from where you can easily get a hired taxi. If you live nearby stations like Delhi or Utter Pradesh then can go by your own vehicle.

The route for Chakrata from Gurgaon starts via Delhi only from where Vikas Nagar is the first one to come on the way, and then you can move further through Grand Cheetal to Mussoorie and the Mall which then passes by the Kempty Fall and Yamuna Pul. After crossing Yamuna Pul, it will take around 2 and half hours more.

Chakrata is a cozy warm place with clean, unpolluted atmosphere and eye catching backdrops which makes the stay here enjoyable. One can enjoy the ridges of the hill top amazing flora and fauna and the silent forest houses with not much of mankind around. The treks and the skiing make the trip more adventurous and full of fun. The people here and the villages are simple. It is one of the most beautiful hill stations for all kinds of tourists looking for secluded stay.

NH1 is the road that takes you to Pipli via Karnal and NH72 will take you to your destination via Herbatpur and Kalsi.

    it is a very beautiful place..only for nature lovers nd trekkers..thr is an amazing waterfall (tiger fall)..amazing..one shud visit this place in early septmbr..nd dont frgt to carry winter clothes..its chilling there..i had an amazing experience and also it is not at all commercialised..so u all will love it and will thank me for sure…

    I am again visiting this place on new years..really excited about it…My last experience was amazing and am sure this one will also be good…its an amazing place..nd a place where u wud love to come time and again…cheer!!
