The Chamba valley is located at a height of 6,500 ft in the Tehri Hills in Himachal Pradesh and is 55-kms away from Mussorrie. The valley lies between the Dhauladhar and Zanskar ranges and is one among the most attractive destinations. The entire place is dominated by the caravan of beautiful clouds moving at a slow speed from the hill to its top. Trekkers and the mountaineers get attracted toward the slopes of the hills and the nature’s beauty is reflected in the snow that lines up the entire area of the city. The beauty gets doubled during March and June.

The glory of whether and Mountains
It is believed that the place has been named after the name of the Raja Sahil Verman’s daughter Champavati who is still believed to be a divine power that exists and rules the city. Ancient monuments and the temple situated here are considered a symbol of truth, justice and devotion.
Chamba is not town in itself but is a kind of junction for 3 different destinations-The Tehri Hill, Yamunotri and Gangotri. Still there are many places that can be visited like the very famous Rang Mahal and the Chamunda Devi temple. Rang Mahal is a historical Palace that is an attraction for most of the visitors. It is situated at Suraj Mohalla. The foundation of the mahal was done by Raja Umeed Singh in the middle of the eighteenth century as his royal accommodation and the place of belongings. The palace was really precious and was appreciated and respected by the later kings of the same and different dynasty. The property is now in the hands of the government and has been made as a place for handicrafts. The painting and the creations are massive pieces of art and represent the interesting tales of Lord Krishna. It is almost an emporium having carved walls and ancient style of embroidery on the silky clothes that are made by women over there. You can visit there between 10am-1pm and in the afternoon between 2-5pm.
Another visiting place should be Chamunda Devi Temple, a Hindu religious destination situated along the railway line of the Pathankot and Jogindernagar. The sacred temple has been constructed on the banks of the river Baner. The temple is surrounded with the Lahla and Pathiar forests. The temple is the abode of Goddess Kali.
Laxmi Narayan Mandir is also is very famous all over the city. The temple was constructed in a Shikhara style by Saihil Verma in 10th century A.D. It consists of antralya with garbhagriha and shikhara. The wheel roof top and the wooden chhartis are the two important characteristic features of the temple.
There are many other places to be seen in Chamba. Some of them are Chaugan, Vareshwari Temple, The famous art garden or the Minar Camping Site, Bhuri Singh Museum, Church of Scotland, Chamunda mandir, Akhand Chandi Palace and others.
Chamba is well connected to major cities through railways and air transports. One can easily get there by road as well which makes the traveling really convenient and adventurous. NH58 road directly connects to Rishikesh via Meerut, Roorkee and Haridwar. There is a state highway as well but on that way you have to first cross Narendranagar. Gaggal airport is located in the district named Kangra near Chamba but not many flights are scheduled for the place and most of them are even cancelled due to the bad weather.
Traveling through the railways is the most convenient option but for that you need to drop at Pathankot as that is the nearest railhead only. From there you can hire a private Taxi.
From Gurgaon or Delhi, direct trains are available and Indira Gandhi and Palam airport both provide the facilities of private taxis so that one can reach the stations easily. If you wish to travel by road only, hire the private taxi from there only.
