Jim Corbett national park is a blend of nature and culture as it has a long tradition of conservation. Many efforts of the concerned authorities have made it a pioneer that preserves diversity and serenity in its own original and beautiful way.It is heaven for the animals like tigers and its prey which includes all kinds of deer (barking, sambar, hog, Black buck and chital, and wild boars). The tigers in the park kill large sized animals such as buffaloes and even elephants for their food. Leopard cats, jungle cat, fishing cats are seen in the hilly areas of Corbett Park but may also venture into the low land jungles. 110 tree species, 50 mammal species, 580 bird species and 25 reptile species can be seen in Jim Corbett national park.
In the higher hills, Himalayan black bear can be seen whereas sloth bear is found in the lower region of the park. Wild dog and jackal can be seen in the southern areas of Corbett Park.
Monkeys and langurs are spread all over the park; they act as an alert to the animals that can be the food to tigers and leopards, as they can easily see them from tree-top perches. One can even hear the scary voices of the nightjars and owls at late nights. Fish eating gharial crocodile, mugger crocodile can be seen along the ramganga river shores. Indian gray mongoose, Himalayan palm civet, common otter, blacknaped hare and porcupine can also be spotted here. Bengal tiger and Asiatic elephant act as a main attraction for the tourists on the land of trumpet, roar and song. The Indian python found in the reserve is a dangerous animal, capable of killing a chital deer.
Tourists can come to visit Corbett from 15th November to 15th June only as The Park remains closed during the rest of the year because of heavy rains that wash away the roads during monsoons. And it takes time to repair the roads to come back in motorable condition.
Traveling by road is not a problem from November to June. You can depart for Corbett by car it is about 240kms journey from Delhi to Gajrola, Muradabad, Kashipur and Ramnagar. Transport department nowadays facilitates comfortable traveling for the visitors and from Delhi at least you’ll be able to avail many buses and trains quite easily.
There is a direct train to Ramnagar from New Delhi. And many other trains are there up to Haldwani, Kashipur, Kathgodam and you can easily reach up to the station by your own car or by taxi from either Gurgaon or Delhi.
