Kanasar is a beautiful tourist point situated very close to Chakarata in Uttranchal. It is also called as Koti Kanasar. Basically it is a small village which is around 105kms away from Dehradun and is densely populated by rain forests. Other than this, the city is also an abode to oak, conikrs, alps and rhododendrons trees which are found here in larges numbers. The entire place seems to be decorated by nature’s pure beauty and serenity. Jaunsari village is also situated near to this place and Kharamba peak is one of the most amazing ones giving natural scenic views of the beauty.
FRH or the Forest Rest House is a famous and the oldest place of accommodation to a large number of tourists.
Kanasar is also being recognized for skiing in winters nowadays. Though there are no such imprints of snow in this region many times during winters still the place is located near to Mudali which offers the benefit of skiing every year even till the month of April.
It is a beautiful place to be visited but there are many other destinations as well that are located very near to Kanasar and Chakarata. Tiger falls is one of them. It takes around 15-20mins to reach this beautiful pond. It is actually a waterfall located around 5kms away from Chakarata. Pure water falling from top is at the height of 1395mts.
Koti Power House and Balani devi mandir are also located at a slightest distance away from Kanasar at Dehradun. You can also visit the Ram Tal Garden which is 9 kms away from Kanasar located on the route of Chakarata to Mussoorie. It is a very pretty garden and is well appreciated for its greenery and peace that it offers.
Kanasar is located very near to Chakarata. To visit Kanasar you need to plan for the best possible mode of transport. The region is hilly approximately 7,000 ft above the sea level so private taxi would be the most suited one at least from the airport or the railway station. You can drop at the Jolly Grant airport at Dehradun from where you’ll easily get a taxi or a bus. Railway travelers can access trains according to their scheduled timings as there are many trains available from New and old Delhi railway stations. To reach Delhi form Gurgaon, NH8 road is mostly recommended. There are no railheads in either Kanasar or Chakarata so Dehradun railway station is your only option.
There are direct buses also that take passengers from Delhi as well as Gurgaon directly towards there destinations. People traveling by road prefer Tuini- Chakarata road mostly for going towards Kanasar from Dehradun.
