Kasauli came into existence when Lord Hanuman stepped here on his way to jump on to the Sanjeevani hill. The place where Lord Hanuman rested his foot at the top of 300 meters high hillock at Kasauli. There is a Hanuman Mandir called Monkey Point. As this temple comes within an air force radar station, security restriction like cameras and bags are not allowed inside. You can reach this temple by foot or by road which ever suits you. You can also see the views of nearby cities like Chandigarh.
Kasauli has a lot of natural serenity with the upper and lower malls, the two principal roads running along Kasauli covered with thick pine, oak and horse chestnut trees surrounding the whole area. On these roads, traffic is totally restricted.
It is a picturesque hill station having colonial ambience with a stretch of cobbled road, gabled houses with charming facade along with neat little orchards and gardens and quaint shops.
On the upper mall road, there is an ancient church and Central Research Institute which prepares vaccines for treatment of diseases like typhoid, smallpox, cholera and snake-bite. There is also a TV tower and the Baptist church to look for.
3 kms away there is a famous Baba Balak Nath temple on the Garner Hill top. This temple is built by Vijay Kumar, in whose dreams Baba Balak nath came one night and asked him to build a temple at that place.
In 1989, Shirdi Sai Baba Mandir was built by Sai Sudha Trust. This temple is just half km away from Garkhal. The temple has the burning flame which signifies the divine power of Sai Babaji of Shirdi of whom idol was built at Jaipur for this temple.
April to June and September to November is the best time to go to Kasauli. One can go there by road transport through a taxi or a bus. If you prefer to go by taxi, then you can take the Chandigarh route. There are enough of buses to take from Gurgaon. If you miss your bus or are comfortable to take it from Delhi then you can easily move to Dlhi I.S.B.T., for taking a direct bus to Dharampur in Shimla. From there take another bus or a taxi to reach to Kasauli bus stop. Kasauli from Delhi is just 350 kms far.
For the Rail transport, you can take Kalka-Shimla toy train to Dharmapur, then from there take some bus or taxi which will drop you at Kasauli.
If you plan to go by air transport, leave for Indira Gandhi Airport. Take the required flight to Kasauli’s nearest airport at Chandigarh. From there take the bus or the taxi to reach your destination.
