Kurfi is around 19kms away from the capital of Himachal Pradesh, Shimla. It is exactly in the southern direction of Shimla. The city is situated at a height 2510mtrs above the sea level. It is one among the hottest places near Shimla. The reason is not the weather but humidity which occupies the place because most of the travelers coming to Shilma love to visit Kurfi frequently. Throwing snowballs and Skiing are famous sports of the town grabbing attentions of the millions of visitors. Both the hills and the valleys get filled up with the exciting voices of the skiing enthusiasts. Snowy peaks and the deep valleys surround most of the region nearby the place. Moving from Kurfi, the riders guide their way towards Narkanda flaunting on the slopes of snow.

Kurfi
has some historical facts behind its existence. Actually, this area was included in the kingdom of Nepal and was first recognized by the British rulers who discovered Shimla in the year of 1819. Shimla was considered as a summer retreat of that time. Since then it is well recognized for the bliss of nature in the form of snow during winters and beautiful looking forests during summers. April-June is the ideal time for visiting this destination during summers and you can enjoy your trip during winters in the months of November-February.

The famous sports of the town are basically all snow sports and activities. The Indian Tourist Park and the Mashru Peal are the two prime attractions of the city. Both the places are attractive and have their own charm of beauty and peace that attracts the attention of most visitors. These are not just activities only; they are actually celebrated as cultural festivals for the pleasure of the adventure lovers.

Shimla is one of the most famous and attractive destination situated very close to Kurfi. This makes traveling more convenient for visitors moving by trains. The only railhead near to Kurfi is the Kalka station at Shimla. One can easily hire a private taxi from there for reaching towards this destination. If you’re really willing to make your trip adventurous, it is advised that travel by road. NH1 moves towards this place via Ambala crossing Karnal. NH22 would then take you to Panchkula and then to Shimla. Soghi and Kalka both would come in the way.

Airport facilities are not available in Kurfi so traveling by air might not be so convenient. But if you are planning to go directly by air, get down at the Chandigarh airport from where you’ll be able to access a private taxi or a deluxe bus quite easily. Moving from Gurgaon to Delhi is also possible very easily as many transport facilities are available nowadays. NH8 is the ideal route. You can even access flights from the nearest airports in Gurgaon along side many trains are also scheduled directly to Shimla from Gurgaon.

    KURFI IS REALLY VERY INTERESTING, CAN WE SPEND FAMILY HOLIDAY THERE? FROM DELHI 3 DAYS ENOUGH? 21ST DEC’11 TO 24TH DEC’11? ANYBODY CAN GUIDE US?
