Morni Hills are situated at Shivalik range in Ambala district of Haryana. Morni is said to have been named after a queen who had ruled this picturesque place. It is located at an altitude of 1,220 meters.
Morni village is also called as Bhoj Jabial, which is popular and also the only hill station in Haryana. This hill station is covered with trees and slopes. It is a place for those who are interested in adventurous activities and also some peace away from their daily schedule. It has different species of wild animals and is a paradise of bird watcher’s.
The official languages spoken here are Haryanvi, Hindi and Punjabi. During summers, the climate here is between 18 degree to 45 degree C, and in winters it is 4 degree to 33 degree Celsius.
Morni hills provide facilities of trekking, rock climbing and hiking with a fascinating range of fauna and flora.
Trees of Sal, Neem, Ritha, Shisham, Mango and Jacaranda cover the slopes of hilltops. Morni hills cover the population of various birds like Crested Kingfisher, Wallcreeper, Bar-tailed Treecreeper, Kalij Pheasant, Red Junglefowl, Black Francolin, Himalayan Bulbul and Oriental Turtle Dove and animals like Langurs, Jackals, Hare, Wild Boar Sambhar and leopards.
There are two lakes or taals which are separated by a hillock but they seem to be interconnected somewhere mysteriously. There is a small Trimurti temple on the banks which exists around 12th century AD and is suppose to had existed when Shiva temple was built.
The scenic beauty of the Hillside seems fascinating to tourists. It has plant life and animal life with charming beauty. There are also flowering trees which add beauty to its environment. One can spend their holidays here to see the myth, history and mystery in the cool climate and beautiful atmosphere with peace. The best time to visit to Morni Hills is from September to March.
Reaching Morni Hills from Gurgaon will take about 5 hours if you will go by Road Transport. You can take a bus or hire a taxi to go to Morni Hills. And if the way from Gurgaon doesn’t suits you, then take a bus from I.S.B.T in Delhi which will drop you at Morni Hills.
If you like to go by the Rail Transport, then you can take the required train from Old Delhi station or Nizamuddin station. The train will drop you at Chandigarh Railway station. From there Morni Hills is just 45 km away which you can cover up by taking a bus or a taxi.
Air transport will also be suitable for you to opt. Take a flight from Indira Gandhi Airport which will leave you at Chandigarh airport. From there take a taxi or a bus to reach Morni hills.
