Mukteshwar is a beautiful historical town located at the distance of about 51kms away from Nainital. Historical in a sense that on one of the most famous rocks, an old temple of Lord Shiva exists having significance of Mukti or immortality. It is believed that a demon got the right path to immortality by the blessings of Lord Shiva here in this town. This is why the place attracts the attention of most of the tourists especially the devotees of Lord Shiva coming from far of places to visit the temple.
The place is surrounded by high hills at an altitude of 2286 meters which are densely populated by natural vegetation making the place more beautiful and attractive. Thick coniferous and fruit orchards are found in the rich green forests of the city.
Mukteshwar is one of the most famous hill stations situated in Uttranchal where people love to visit frequently. The natural charm and beauty along with the cool pleasant weather of the town makes the place serene offering peace to the travelers. A large part of its surrounding region is acquired by the deep forests of the Indian Veterinary Research Institute where one can see Langurs, deer, leopard, Rhesus Monkeys and black bear in large numbers. It is also an abode to some rarely found birds like black winged kites, red-billed leothrix and some other mountain birds. Since the forests are extremely dense, Panar and the Champawat tiger were once found here in the jungles which were killed by Jim Corbett in the Kumaon hills. Along with them, some man-eating tigers were also located but were extinct after many years due to some severe weather conditions and some got finished by hunting. Apart from the animals, the place is rich and famous for the growth of many fruits as well like peaches, pears, apples and apricots.
Chauthi Jali is a nearby destination which is around 26kms away from Ramgarh. It is a beautiful place providing amazing view of the feathered scavengers and eagles that are rarely found in any other nearby places. Other nearby tourist’s attraction points are Reetha Sahib Gurudwara, the Punyagiri Mandir, the famous Gollu Devta Mandir and a temple named Devighura
Mukteshwar is located in Uttranchal which is at a distance of around 351kms from Delhi. The nearest airport for people traveling by air is the Indira Gandhi and the Palam airport in Gurgaon. From there you can easily get a direct flight towards Uttranchal. Pantanagar is the nearest airport there. Travelling by train is very much convenient nowadays as many trains are available. The nearest railhead is around 35kms away from Mukteshwar and is named as Kathgodam.
The beautiful paradise of Mukteshwar is situated in the Upper Kumaon hills at an altitude of 7,513ft above the sea level so many people traveling from Gurgaon or Delhi even prefer to travel by bus via NH24 running straight towards Rampur via Moradabad. Then you can take NH87 to Kathgodam crossing Rudrapur and Bilaspur. It would be better to consult your traveler for more guidance and booking procedures.
