Nalagarh is known as the gateway of Himachal Pradesh. Nalagarh was the capital of the Hindur Kingdom which was founded by Raja Ajai Chand in 1100 A.D ruled by the Chandela Rajputs. An excellent excursion from Nalagarh is to the impressive Ramgarh Fort built in mughal style of architecture. The Fort which was built in 1421 during the reign of Raja Bikram Chand was built by Raja Ram Chander. Situated at a height of 4000 feet, the Fort is located 21 km north of Nalagarh. The Fort Nalagarh is spread over 20 acres of land. It is located on a hillock at the foothills of the mighty Himalayas giving you a panoramic view of the Shivalik Hills beyond the Sirsa River. Nalagarh fort which is surrounded by endless acres of greenery provides the tourists with all modern amenities. The surroundings of the fort are an ideal place for relaxation away from the maddening crowd of metropolitan cities. The fort has now been converted into a heritage resort.
