Narendra Nagar is a small town situated near the lower Himalayas almost in the middle of the Himalayas and the Shivalik ranges. The town was built in the year 1895 during the rule of Maharaja Narendra Shah who wanted to shift his capital from Tehri to Odathali (older name of Narendra Nagar), which was well known for its beauty and serenity. The place is significant for its mythological concerns since many years. Various spiritual and astrological practices were implemented during the time by the founder of astrology Purusar, who was continuously evaluating the effects of the shifting of stars and planets.

Narendra Nagar is not a very famous vacation point as the place is very small and is still left un-noticed by most of the visitors. It can be located around 16 km away from Muni-ki-Reti in Garhwal. The best part about the place is its extremely beautiful vegetation, mountains and greenery that fill up the environment with peace. One can feel this calm emotion while walking between the hilly roads having scenic beauty on both sides. The sunsets of the city have a separate charm that is never seen in any other place all around in Uttranchal.
Kachnar, neem, lantana, kanj, sandalwood, aranji, kala bansa, amrita vine, sheesham, kaer all of these trees naturally tend to surround the entire place during different seasons. The leaves and fruits of the dheau tree are used to make pickles. This tree is rare but Narendra Nagar gets the additional benefit of the growth of this vegetation.
Monkeys and langurs, both are commonly found in the entire city. Other than them animals like elephants, bhageera, wild fowl and kakar deer’s can be seen in different locations in deep forests.
Apart from the natural flora and fauna, it is also an ancient place of great significance. The King’s Royal Palace along with the great Nandi bull is present here. It is situated in the forests of Tehri and gains most of the attention. Most of the building of the town are still centuray old and are being used as government offices.
Narendra Nagar is situated very close to Rishikesh so the best way to reach here is only by train. It will take around 4 and a half hour only but there is no railhead in Rishikesh as well so you need to get down at the Haridwar railwayhead only from where you can hire a comfortable taxi that would approximately take 45minutes to reach at your destination.
It would not be convenient to travel by air as it would create some problems. So in this case, the best way is to get down at Indira Gandhi or Palam airport and hire a taxi to the railway station of either New or Old Delhi. From here many trains are available at flexible timings. But if you wish to travel by rail but directly from Gurgaon only then better check the schedules or consult the contractors as the timing sometimes may not match with our convenience.
By road the best way is to take the route of the NH58 road that would go via Modinagar. Then it will cross Khatauli, Muzaffarnagar, Roorkee, Haridwar, Raiwala and Rishikesh.
Locate the road map below for removing your difficulties while traveling from Gurgaon to Delhi.
