Gurgaon to Sariska

The Sariska Tiger Reserve is one of the most famous National parks in India located in the Alwar district of the state of Rajasthan. The area was declared a wildlife reserve in year 1955. In 1978, it was given the name of a tiger reserve making it a part of India’s Project Tiger scheme. Sariska Tiger Reserve is nestled in the Aravali Hills covering the grasslands, dry deciduous forests, cliffs and rocky landscapes.

Flora and Fauna:

Some of the wildlife found in the Sariska Tiger Reserve includes the Bengal tiger, leopard, wild dog, jungle cat, hyena, jackal, chital, sambar, caracal, langur, crocodile, wild boar, four-horned deer (chowsingha) and several species of birds.

History of Sariska:

Sariska Palace built in the 19th century by Maharaja Jai Singh of Alwar was served as a hunting lodge for the Maharajas has now been converted into a heritage hotel with all the modern amenities like swimming pool, lawn tennis, table tennis, huge lawns to play cricket, football etc and relax. Based in a total of 100 acres and lush green lawns in the middle of Rajasthan is a pleasurable landscape. Sariska Palace which is right next to Sariska Wild Life Sanctuary retains all its regal charm and ambience to remind one of the times of Maharajas and the Raj. Sariska can be easily reached within 3 hours form Gurgaon and 4 hours from Delhi.

How to reach Sariska:

For reaching Sariska from Delhi, one has to go via Alwar, the Tiger gate of Rajasthan. Follow the route and take NH 8 till Dharuhera, turn left for Bhiwadi to catch the toll road to Alwar via Tijara. You can take the by pass road to Sariska instead of going through Alwar city. 10 km from Alwar a diversion can be taken to Siliserh Lake on the way for a break in your journey. Sariska is about 30 km away from Alwar. Another route for Sariska which is a little longer is continues on NH 8 till just before Shahpura and taking the State highway to Sariska via Thanagazi.

Gurgaon to Sariska

  • The nearest railway station is alwar which is 35 kilometers away from Sariska. Trains that run directly to Alwar are Shatabdi Express (New Delhi-Alwar- Ajmer); Super fast Express (New Delhi- Alwar- Ajmer); Intercity Express (Delhi Sarai Rohilla – Alwar - Jaipur); Marudhar Express (Varanasi – Alwar - Jodhpur); Mandore Express (Delhi Sarai Rohilla – Alwar - Jodhpur).
    From Alwar, you can hire a taxi to reach Sariska and the same for reaching the railway station at the time of boarding. Bus services are available from alwar to sariska at regular intervals.
  • The nearest airport from Sariska is Jaipur, situated at a distance of 107 Km and well connected to all the major cities of India. Jet Airways, Indian Airlines, and Sahara connect Jaipur with other major ports in India. Tourists coming from Gurgaon can easily travel by air and can hire a taxi form Jaipur to Sariska.

    Is it a good season on month to visit the sariska wildlife sancturay.

    If they will allow I suppose this is the best season to visit Sariska!!
