Sattal is a unique, unforgettable spot having cluster of pristine lakes set against the captivating surroundings of dense oak and pine woods in the state of uttarakhand. It is 11 kilometers from Bhimtal, 15 kilometers from Nakuchiatal, and 23 kilometers away from Nainital.
The literary meaning of this picturesque resort is “seven lakes”. These seven lakes are: Panna or Garud Tal, Nal-Damyanti Tal, Purna Tal, Sita Tal, Ram Tal, Laxman Tal, Sukha Tal or Khurdariya Tal.
Tranquility and serenity merged with the melodious gush of greenish and clear water from which we can easily see what is there in the water and the sweet chirp of the lovely birds unfold a virtual paradise before the tourists.
Modern touch and industrialization has not yet reached to Sattal. It is one of the few unspoiled and unpolluted water bodies in India. Adventurous people will never find a suitable place like sattal to cherish their dreams. You can enjoy boating and fishing, one more thing you can do is you can laze on the hammock with a book or a pair of binoculars spotting the variety of exotic migratory birds out there.
Subhash dhara is spectacular natural spring of fresh water arising out of dense oak forests in the western part of sattal.
Sattal is found attractive for most travelers because of the excitement it offers. It is the best place for adventurous activities like:

By Road if you want to go to sattal, it is a distance of 6½ hours. Traveling by a car or taxi is not a bad idea. One can follow this route: Delhi-Rampur via Ghaziabad, Hapur, Gajrola, Muradabad (taking NH24), Rampur- Kathgodam (taking NH87), and Kathgodam-Sattal via Bhimtal (district road). Tourists can hire a taxi or cab which they will get easily from Gurgaon also.
By rail it takes 8½ hours to reach sattal (7½ hour and 1hour from Kathgodam Railway Station) you have to cover by taxi which will be available at the station only. 5013 Ranikhet Express is available for a comfortable overnight journey by train to sattal. Other trains are also available with some other timing suiting your requirement.
