Shivpuri is situated near Rishikesh in Uttranchal. The place is around 19kms away from Rishikesh and is known for offering adventurous sports like trekking, river rafting and mountaineering. Other attractive activities are kayaking, rappelling and bird watching. Most of the hotels and other accommodations provide the privilege of campfire in the natural surroundings of Shivpuri.

There is another place called Kaudiyala located around 40 kms away from Rishikesh. Both the places are headed by cold waters of the river Ganga coming down from the mountains. The entire city is embraced for its natural beauty, peace and serenity. Roller coaster, Daniel’s Deep, Black money and the Three Blind Mice are the rapids that are found in Rishikesh and offer flavored venue for adventure lovers. White water rafting and trekking through the Ganges can lead you to Char Dhams, the valley of flowers and the Har-ki-pauri in Haridwar. Various arrangements are now being made near the riverside for overnight stay by the rafting or camping operators. They provide the necessary equipments used during the entire camping like the life safety jackets and the first aid kit.

Water skiing and river rafting courses are also introduced by some of the operators. GMVN Trekking and Mountaineering office is one of them that provide economical packages. Normal rafting rates are around Rs. 350 for one go.

A traveling package is now getting popular among tourists that include camping on the fine white beech which is surrounded by the beautiful Sal forests. The place is located at the north east side of Rishikesh. The entire package has been arranged by the Himalayan River Runners.

Apart from the various camps and bonfire arrangements, there is a beautifully decorated lodge named Himalayan Hideaway which gives the tourists an added benefit of site view of the river Ganga along with comfortable rooms.

This is to be noticed that it’s an adventurous trip only for youngsters or middle aged people so kid below 12years of age should not be allowed to participate. Even people suffering from epilepsy and heart conditions should better stay away. Neither rafting nor trekking is a safe sport. Both involve heavy risk and one should be properly prepared before going for them as sometimes they become life threatening also. Rely on your guide’s expertise for your safe trip.

From Gurgaon, Shivpuri is situated at a distance of about 426 kms or in miles it is around 265. Shivpuri is a small place so there are no facilities of any airport or any bus terminal as yet. But Haridwar is quite near to Sivpuri so one can take a direct bus from either Gurgaon or Delhi that would directly take you towards your destination. Most of the tourists prefer traveling through private taxis that takes around 5-6 hrs which are easily available at the Indira Gandhi or Palam airport. The Gurgaon bus terminal also provides direct buses to Haridwar and Rishikesh. After reaching there, you can easily hire a taxi or bus for Shivpuri.
