One of the most popular multiplex owner PVR Ltd joined hands with Thai based entertainment giant Major Cinemas to open a series of bowling alleys in the country. On Tuesday, PVR had announced the opening of Blu-O bowling alley in Ambience Mall of Gurgaon. It will be of 24 lane bowling alley. It was the joint venture of both the companies in which PVR will fund 51% for the set up while the rest will be of Major Cineplex Group.
Actually bowling is a sport in which a player rolls a bowling ball along a wooden or synthetic surface to knock down as many pins as possible to get more score. The place or the building where this bowling sport is held is called bowling alleys.
On this occasion PVR chairman and MD Ajay Bijli said,” This is another step towards our continuous efforts to evolve PVR from a filmed entertainment company to a retail entertainment player with a focus to enhance the out-of-home entertainment experience for our patrons”. He also said that there are plans to set up more bowling alleys in big cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Chennai and Kolkata also.
Though the company officials didn’t comment on pricing but they said that they will try to focus on a flexible pricing model which will vary depending the time of the day just like the movie tickets.

What i loved most about the place is the ambiance. Its more like that of a pub – dim lights, comfortable sitting, amazing lightings, lounge music, coupled with the experience of bowling, which makes it a great combo. However the menu is quite limited. Drinks were limited to beer, and they had just french fries in food. Also mock tails were pretty bad. They were a mix of tropicana – so totally avoidable. Also they are a bit stingy on rules – no game sharing allowed, one has to wear socks etc. On the cost side, its also comparatively expensive, but despite all this, its one nice place to chill out, specially if u r with your frends or loved ones.
