When ordinary people step into the swamp of politics, its time when politicians understand that there’s a limit of trying patience and they better start fulfilling their long-forgotten promises. R S Rathi, resident of Gurgaon, went to file his nomination from the Gurgaon Assembly Constituency on Thursday, backed by several RWAs and Mission Gurgaon Development (MGD). He had other supporters too, holding up posters, reflecting the real state of so- called “Millennium City”.
These hundreds of posters captured the trodden civic amenities like water-logged roads, potholes, pool of public with no transportation, water scarcity and traffic grimace. And so were the voices of the holders of these posters saying, “We feel betrayed by the way we have been treated by leaders. We wanted to show the public the real face of the city so that they could realize what and who is a better choice for them,” said Abhay Punia, a MGD member and Rathi’s supporter.
R S Rathi, an independent candidate, is 44 – year old engineer and is also the president of Qutub Enclave RWA in DLF City. His movable property is worth of 78.59 lakhs and immovable property sums up to 2.22 crores. While his wife’s property accounts to 73.66 laks and 1.90 crore of moveable and immovable property respectively.
Though we have his assets in our foreseeable knowledge, his plans for going-about the problems faced by the residents of Gurgaon and the protests his supporters are crying out seems to be indistinct. Rathi says that he has no political agenda and has taken active participation in poll fray because of constant failures of the politicians. He further states that while these politicians have eaten up the city resources, degrading the status, people have to run and sweat for availing the basics of the civic amenities.
People of Gurgaon are exasperated with the government civic bodies and the representative of Millennium City responsible for the development of the city. Where upcoming elections for Assembly of Gurgaon has brought politicians back into their false promising lectures and people into their agitated complaint mode, Rathi has stepped aside from these petty aspects and has enrolled himself as an aspirant for Gurgaon’s Assembly Constituency. He feels this is the only way to do something concrete and meaningful for the betterment of the city.
