School Education in Gurgaon

School education in Gurgaon is contemporary and up to date like any other international city. There is a wide category of schools present in Gurgaon.

New Gurgaon, although a few years old, has received positive highlight as far as the school education is concerned. Diverse kinds of schools are present here – world school, International School, regular school, and unconventional schools.

Gurgaon has its fair share of regular schools like Amity, DPS, Ryan, and Salwan. All these schools are actually old names in Delhi and other prominent cities of India. Like in other cities they have branches in Gurgaon too. These schools are tried and tested over time, and have no doubt produced the best minds of India who get through in IIT, IIMs, and other prestigious institutions of India and abroad. These schools follow either CBSE or ICSE board.

However, since Gurgaon has a lot of diverse crowd that comprises of people from all over the world and background, the city has to cater to different needs. School education in Gurgaon has to cater to international citizens too. Thus there are a number of International Schools like Scottish High, American Excelsior, American Public School, Pathways, and so on.

Schools like Scottish High and American Excelsior are affiliated to IB (International Baccalaureate), and follow PYP (Primary Years Program) for junior classes. The methodology of these schools is quite different from the regular schools like DPS or Amity.

Overview of Gurgaon International Schools

The International Schools have small-sized classrooms where the teacher-student ratio is less as compared to regular schools. Thus each student gets individual attention. The focus of these schools is not purely academic but to develop the overall personality of the child and take the best out of him. These schools design the curriculum in such a way that the child becomes a thinker and enquirer. International schools do not burden the child with academic pressure and insist more on activity based learning.

International schools are suitable for foreign nationals and Indians who aim of settling outside in future or even send their children for education abroad. These schools give a lot of international exposure and readiness to accept variety.

Unconventional New Generation Schools in Gurgaon

Apart from International schools the trend is also towards unconventional schools like that of Shikshantar and Heritage in Gurgaon. These schools do not have classroom mode of education but rather experimental way of learning. So most of the learning takes place in open air, farms, fields, and labs. Such schools also even do not have uniforms for students.

Are New Schools Performing Well?

So as we can derive from this discussion school education in Gurgaon offers a diverse experience and caters to different needs. However, time will only tell whether unconventional and schools with a different pedagogy will survive in the long run. Since such schools are still in their nascent stage, it will take a few years to decide whether the products of these schools are superior as compared to conventional schools.

However, as far as the parent’s feedback is concerned, they are happy with new generation schools as they put less academic pressure on children and give individual attention to each child.

I cannot end this discussion before insisting that school education in Gurgaon is definitely expensive. Parents have to loosen their wallet if they choose to send their children to the International and Unconventional Schools in Gurgaon.
