MCG elections in Gurgaon are over and new councilors have been elected. This is the first time that new Gurgaon is getting its representative in the form of councilors. Winners of MCG elections have been handed their positions. The Municipal Corporation of Gurgaon has divided the city into 35 wards for the administrative purposes and each ward is represented by one councilor.
15th May 2011, Gurgaon experienced its first Municipal elections. The city badly needs stronger and effective municipal governance in order to improve the severe infrastructure problem that the city is facing. The councilors will work towards the development of their wards and also solve various infrastructure problems that people of his area are facing.
It is a known fact that Gurgaon is undergoing various infrastructural problems like broken roads, water logging, inefficient drainage and sewage system, poor law and order, lack of power, and so on. If we look at the agenda of winners of MCG elections Gurgaon, most of them pledge to focus on improving the drainage system and getting the roads repaired. Many of them also focus on regularizing water and power supply.
Although development is the prime issue that has surfaced in the MCG elections of Gurgaon, caste has also played a major role. A number of seats have been won by Yadav and Jat candidates. However, we cannot neglect the fact that eligible and qualified candidate like Nisha Singh have won seats in MCG election. Gurgaon MCG elections have been carried in a democratic manner and people are waiting to see the results in terms of a better city.
The councillors will now get together to elect a Mayor for Gurgaon. Public opinion says that caste politics will again play a major role in the selection of the Mayor, but people also believe on their elected councillors and expect large scale and fast infrastructural development in Gurgaon.

when will the elected members start working for the residents .There are a lot of senior citizens residing in sec 23.We have great difficulty in taking our evening /morning walk/doing simple jobs like getting groceries because there are no pavements i.e they are all encroached upon by residents .The roads are in v.bad shape esp around the market place .There are more than one RWA and they pass the buck when some work is to be done and take advantage of any facility offered by the govt.Whom to approach
